Scars - What Happens when our Skin is Wounded?

by Martha Fitzharris

A scar is a mark left on the skin after an injury. Injuries that affect your skin will end in some level of scarring. Scarring is a result of the normal curative process of our skin and the aspect of a scar depends on size, depth and location of the injury.

How does scarring occur and how can we aid our skin to eliminate scars?

As mentioned in the introduction, scarring is the normal curative process of a wound. The skin is left with a scar when the thicker and deeper layers of the skin (the dermis) are damaged. The severity of the scar will depend on the severity of the wound.

Any time our skin gets damaged by, for example an acne infection or a cut, various cells come to the rescue. This is the body's way of protecting itself from harm. It is a complex curative process that usually causes scarring.

The healing process begins with the constriction of blood vessels which create clots to minimize blood loss. A crust or scab will form over the top of the wound. This will act as a shielding barrier against foreign substances, protecting the system whilst fixing the problem.

To fix the damage, the body has to lay down new collagen fibers; a naturally occurring protein which is synthesized by the body. Collagen is a tough, fiber-like protein that makes up most of the scar tissue. In scar tissue, collagen is more numerous and more irregularly arranged.

This process results in a fortuna scar which is the most common type of scarring. It is signaled by the body's reaction of laying new collagen fibers over the wound. The body can not identically reconstruct the tissue causing the new scar tissue to have a different appearance and texture than the surrounding healthy skin tissue. Scar tissue is commonly of inferior functional quality and less resistant to UV radiation. It is also barren of sweat glands and hair follicles.

Do you have a Scar?

Skin affected by wounds will of course be affected by the consequences. That is why it is recommended that you apply a treatment cream to avoid possible scar formation. Other incidents that should be treated to avoid scar tissue might include surgical procedures, cuts, accident and/or acne scars. A microdermabrasion solution that includes skin renewal activators and gentle physical abrasives will effectively eliminate old and new scars.

Scars are an inevitable consequence of an injury. Our body makes an attempt to cure wounds, but sometimes it's difficult to avoid severe scar formation. The best recommendation is to apply a microdermabrasion solution to help the skin to correctly eliminate scars.

Scars can now be easily removed thanks to BIO SKIN EXFOL, a natural skin care solution that embodies one of the best remedial ingredients that Mother Nature can offer.
