Cat Training - For Your Cat
Something to keep in mind while cat training or kitten training is that felines do not speak english. They do not understand what you're saying, even if you're yelling it at them. Litter box training can be very frustrating, but scolding will not often get you the goal you're after. Try positive reinforcement; encourage and reward your kitty when he or she gets it right.
Ordinarily, a person will attempt to convey the proof to the cat and exert authority over their pet when it occurs, perhaps even luring the cat to return to the box and making him paw through the litter. This is a facet of "cat training" that teaches your pet that his owner is his tormentor and the litter box is his punishment.
It is generally difficult, and most often impossible, to get hold of cats in the act of doing this since most cats have by now learned that being trapped is not good. In case you catch your cat in the act, then he will only be naughty when you are not there to punish him.
If you attempt to scold your feline friend at a later time, he almost certainly won't associate that with his undesirable behavior and will continue doing the very same thing over and over. Sometimes tabby misbehaves simply to get your attention and if he's successful at that, it reinforces his conduct and keeps him playing his old tricks.
If your new kitten came from a reputable breeder, it will surely have received "cat training" in how to use a litter box. In this event you will probably experience fewer "cat problems". Ordinarily kittens are taught by their mothers, and breeders simply reinforce the mother cat's natural teaching.
Make sure to inquire of the breeder what kind of litter box your kitten was used to before you brought him home. Frequently if you switch to a different brand, he might not figure out it's purpose. Should you wish to switch the brand of box you use, transition gradually.
A significant consideration while "cat training" or "kitten training", primarily during their house training, is being aware that berating your pet simply isn't effective. At first, pet owners may experience frustration while attempting to teach their cat how to use a litter box because they can't catch the feline in the misconduct, so they can punish them. If you've bought a kitten from a reputable breeder, the kitten should have had specific training in regard to using a litter box by watching its mother. Of any cat problems that could arise, this is one that should have been taken care of before you bring it home.
