Teenage Acne Treatment and Tips

by Valerie Garner

The population most affected by acne is teenagers. During adolescent years, almost every single teen will have at least one breakout of acne. The specific case and condition of acne depends on the individual, but most experience whiteheads, blackheads, and in more severe acne cases, cystic acne. Also common among teens is body or back acne that can affect the back, chest, and shoulders. Luckily there are a number of teenage acne treatments developed specifically for teen acne due to hormonal changes.

Causes of Teenage Acne

Teenage puberty is marked by great changes in hormone levels. Imbalanced hormones can create growth spurts, body hair, and overactive body glands. One type of gland, called the sebaceous gland, is responsible for producing sebum, an oily secretion that helps keep hair and skin moisturized. During adolescence these glands enlarge and produce more sebum under the influence of hormones. Overactive glands and too much sebum are factors that pose risk in the development of acne.

Acne starts with damage done to living cells within these sebum glands. Cells within the glands can be injured by the force of sebum output which is common considering the heightened gland activity during adolescence. Further damage can be done by the hardening of sebum, or the mixture of oil and dead skin cells within the follicles. The body's immune response is inflammatory which inflames and reddens the skin and can cause what we know as pimples. Teenagers tend to be more at risk for acne if they have a parent who suffered from teen acne or still struggles with adult acne.

Teenage Acne Treatment

The variety of teenage acne treatments include topical acne creams, digestible medications, daily use soaps and cleansers, as well as a number of natural skin care alternatives. Unfortunately there is no cure for acne and the success of skin care products really depends on each individual. However, advice for all is to know about the causes of acne in order to treat those rather than just the symptoms. Severe medications are not necessary in treating teenage acne. In most cases acne conditions will get better on their own with the decrease in adolescent hormonal imbalances. Stay away from harsh treatments that can leave you with damaged skin cells long after acne recovery. Instead, opt for natural types of acne treatment cream that target the biological factors of acne development.

Skin Friendly Diet

Diet changes could also help in the treatment of acne. However, the common myth that acne results from eating chocolate or greasy foods is not true. The foods you eat will not lessen hormones imbalances nor sebum output. Nevertheless, your skin will be healthier if you make sure you eat right and get all the vitamins and nutrients your body needs. This is especially important during adolescence, as your body is growing and needs to be equipped with the vitamins needed to keep you energized and your immune system strong. Additionally, people who eat well balanced diets tend to be less stressed, which can help control sebum output and therefore acne condition.

BIOSKINFORTE is the organic and successful answer to blackheads, whiteheads, and cystic acne due to changes in hormones during teenage years.
